Dr Hammer is Harold C. Neu Professor of Medicine, Professor of Epidemiology, and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Columbia University Medical Center/New York–Presbyterian Hospital in New York, New York. His major investigative interests have focused on antiretroviral therapeutics and preventative HIV vaccine development. He has been a long-standing investigator in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)-sponsored ACTG and HVTN. Within the HVTN, he is a member of the Executive Management Team and a Principal Investigator in the Leadership and Operations Center.
