March 6, 2020, IMPORTANT CROI UPDATE
CROI leadership has continued to monitor the growing COVID-19 outbreak in the US and globally each day. Many countries, agencies, and institutions have now banned travel, and many infectious disease physicians are urgently needed to care for patients with COVID-19 in their own institutions. Because of increasing concerns that travel to a large group gathering like CROI is not advisable from a personal and public health perspective, the CROI leadership has come to the difficult decision that the 2020 CROI meeting will be virtual. March 4, 2020 (3:30 PM PT):
We recognize that some speakers who are planning to attend may not be able to travel to the meeting because of travel restrictions or institutional requirements that prevent you from leaving your institutions during the week of CROI. Because such restrictions may be imposed upon speakers in the next few days, we ask that all speakers (regardless of their current plans) submit a narrated video version of their presentation prior to CROI as a precaution. We understand that the situation remains fluid and may change, so we ask that potential attendees check the website daily and remain as flexible as you can in helping us to plan the best conference that we can put together under very uncertain circumstances. CROI UPDATE for March 2, 2020
As the events of the past 72 hours have evolved, it is clear that in many countries and regions of the world, including here in the U.S., SARS CoV-2 has continued to spread. In a number of countries, again including the U.S., evidence has emerged that the virus is circulating within local communities and is no longer one that can be controlled by border-based travel restrictions. February 28, 2020: Security Screening
The Hynes Convention Center has implemented heightened security screening at all entry points to the center. Everyone will be screened by metal detectors and handbags and backpacks inspected. Those with wheelchairs or other medical devices can be hand-screened separately. Please plan for extra time to enter the venue, particularly when arriving for the plenary lectures and returning from lunch when we expect the heaviest traffic. The convention center has advised that wait times can be as long as 4-6 minutes during these periods. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

February 25, 2020. UPDATE ON IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON CROI ATTENDEES
CROI continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on the conference. At this time, full registration refunds will be given for people from China or other countries that are under a specific travel ban; other requests will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. For poster presenters who cannot attend because of these travel restrictions, CROI is making special accommodations for their science to be presented during the conference even though they are not able to be at the conference in person. We are also exploring potential solutions for any oral abstract presenters who might be affected by a travel ban and unable to attend CROI.

More information will be release once it becomes available.
